Sisters Carole and Sophie Dulon continue to impress us with their ability to produce exceptional wines at super-affordable prices, and the Château Bois de la Croix Bordeaux Rouge from Vignobles Dulon is yet another shining example of their success. Similar to Château Grand Jean, our own AWM direct selection, this Bordeaux Rouge is a private label created for an importer here in the States. It's another prime example of the value to be had when you slice a few nickels out of the logistic chain.

Merlot takes charge for more than half of Château Bois de la Croix Bordeaux, with Cabernet Sauvignon and a whisper of Cabernet Franc rounding out the Cuvée. The varietals are fermented separately, allowing each grape to develop its own unique personality and expression of terroir. After blending, the Cuvée ages entirely in stainless steel -- no oak touches this fruit.

In your glass, this gem of a Tuesday Night Bordeaux opens with classic briary red and blue fruit on the nose, leading to a palate of black currant and blackberry, framed by notes of toasted spice, and black cherry. The tannins are present, but oh-so super soft, making this a perfect red Bordeaux for the warmer summer months.

Château Bois de la Croix Bordeaux is deliciously smooth and silky, so it's a top pick for enjoyment on the porch or patio; however, keep it on hand all summer to pair with lighter grilled fare, especially burgers.
