Cono Sur's Bicicleta line of wines symbolizes the company's commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices. The label features a bicycle, representing the winery's continued efforts to reduce its carbon footprint while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. The bicycle is also a nod to the vineyard workers who transported grapes from the vineyards to the winery by bike.

On any given day, you'll still see the vineyard and winery workers going about their business pedaling around on bicycles. In the vineyards, geese, sheep, and a unique selection of plants provide an ideal symbiosis, keeping the ecosystem healthy. It's easy to understand why Cono Sur is considered one of the most forward-thinking producers in Chile!

We recently tasted the Cono Sur Merlot with one of our local supplier reps, and we were blown away at the level of quality in the glass for such a reasonable price. The real treat here is the bottle age -- it's from the 2017 vintage, and the extra time in the bottle has softened the tannins and beautifully rounded the fruit.

In your glass, and after a swirl or two, the bright garnet color opens to a nose of briary, earthy red fruit. The palate is silky-smooth with dusty tannins and notes of plum and dark cherry, framed by pepper spice and hints of tobacco leaf.

Pair this velvety red with grilled meats, chops, and burgers. There's still a bit of cellar time left on this delicious Merlot; however, it's currently in its prime, drinking at its peak, and best enjoyed over the next 6-12 months.
