Enjoying a glass of crisp, dry Rosé on a hot summer day is indeed one of life's extraordinary pleasures. Yet, who knew that this pale pink beverage would be this fantastic? The French did, and up until a few scant years ago, they quietly slurped down nearly all that they produced! Thankfully, they've learned to share, and here in the US, we've done a great job catching up to the French when it comes to tipping a glass of the Pink.
The Laurent Miquel Père et Fils Rosé is a blend of 80% Cinsault and 20% Syrah and sourced entirely from vineyards in the Saint-Chinian AOC. I'm always impressed by the Provençal-like elegance of this Languedoc Rosé. The high percentage of Cinsault in the blend is definitely a riff on Provence; however, the addition of Syrah provides some extra spice and heft.
After a swirl or two, you'll note aromas of strawberry and ripe blueberry along with subtle citrus notes. The zippy palate features a refreshing hit of strawberry and red currant, finishing with just the right spice and brightness. This pink-pleaser will be perfect with light meat and seafood creations, and we especially love this with spicy Cajun and BBQ.
