BEN is a nickname relating to the Italian first name Beniamino, often used as a term of endearment for a family's youngest and most beloved son. It's a moniker that fits perfectly for this lovely Maremma white from the Nittardi Estate -- it's their newest wine produced, and it fulfills the family's dream of making white wine in a region noted almost exclusively for red.

BEN Vermentino is sourced from the family's Mongibello delle Mandorlaie vineyards in Maremma, located between the communes of Scansano and Magliano. The vineyards are only 8 km away from the sea at an altitude of 250 meters and are planted on sandy-gravel soil with an underlying layer of clay and limestone. The sea-side climate and coastal soil composition are the perfect conditions to satisfy Vermentino's maritime soul, yielding wines with a brisk, salty freshness.

In your glass, this 100% Vermentino offers refreshing notes of lemon, peach, and exotic fruits in a perfectly balanced dance of fruit and acidity. The Tyrrhenian Sea makes its presence known in the delicately salty notes in the finish, making this white a favorite for seafood and especially shellfish.
