So you love the foods of the Thanksgiving table, but you want a bigger, bolder, richer red that will still pair nicely with the feast -- Zenato Alanera is for you. Imagine if an Amarone and a Super-Tuscan had a love child -- this super-smooth Veneto blend would be the result.

The Zenato family has deep roots in the Veneto and is committed to preserving and promoting the region's cultural heritage and winemaking. Their estate and vineyard holdings are located on the gently rolling hills surrounding Lake Garda, benefiting from a particularly favorable microclimate for agriculture. The family produces a wide variety of reds and whites; however, their Amarone and Valpolicella Ripasso are famous worldwide.

Alanera is a captivating blend of 55% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 10% Corvinone, 5% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon that draws additional depth and richness from a unique twist on the classic appassimento technique used for Valpolicella Ripasso. The grapes are dried between 45 and 60 days at the Zenato family's Amarone facility in Sant' Ambrogio, concentrating the juice and producing a complex range of aromas and flavors. This delightfully drinkable red was aged in barrels for a year to soften the tannins.

In your glass, this silky-smooth blend is a pleasure to sip. After a swirl or two, aromas of fresh and dried cherry, plum, and baking spice entertain the senses, leading to a palate of dark cherry, black raspberry, and plum with hints of chocolate and coffee on the finish. There's plenty of brightness and lift, and the super-soft and velvety tannins make this a knockout for the Thanksgiving table.
