Nestled along the shores of the tranquil Étang de Thau, Les Vignerons de Florensac crafts superb terroir-driven wines that practically scream the Mediterranean. This picture-perfect sun-drenched slice of the Med is celebrated for its briny oysters and zippy Picpoul de Pinet whites, produced in the villages of Pinet, Pomerols, and Florensac. Although the spotlight mostly shines on Picpoul, local vignerons quietly create elegantly expressive dry Rosé that speaks of sea breezes and warm summer days.
Like Picpoul, vineyards around the Étang de Thau yield delightfully dry Pinks that perfectly reflect the region's maritime character. The same salty breezes and mineral-rich soils that shape Picpoul also provide the region's Pinks with plenty of distinctive freshness and verve. The 2024 vintage of Face à la Mer Rosé from Les Vignerons de Florensac has just arrived, and it's destined to be one of the most popular Pinks of the summer.
Les Vignerons de Florensac is one of the largest Cooperatives in southern France, and its mission is to champion the collective strength and resources of small family-run vineyards. Founded in 1934, they're one of the oldest cooperative wineries on the Med, and today, it provides income for hundreds of vignerons and their families.
The cooperative is deeply committed to sustainable viticulture, employing a full range of eco-friendly practices, including mechanical weeding, natural pest control, and the elimination of chemical fertilizers. In a further nod to both innovation and ecology, the group has installed solar panels at the winery and is working towards carbon-neutral operations.
In your glass, Face à la Mer Rosé greets you with heady aromas of red berries, ripe watermelon, and delicate citrus notes. Bright and refreshingly crisp on the palate, this perky pink perfectly balances lively strawberry and raspberry with a gentle hint of seaside salinity.
All of your favorite classic Rosé pairings will work like a charm. Enjoy Face à la Mer Rosé alongside grilled shrimp skewers, Mediterranean-seasoned grilled fish drizzled with olive oil and lemon, and lemon-thyme chicken. It's an excellent companion for vibrant summer salads topped with goat cheese or tangy, herbal vinaigrettes, and of course, Salade Niçoise is a match made in heaven. If you're feeling more adventurous, try it with cool and spicy Vietnamese summer rolls, fish tacos with chipotle mango salsa, or mildly spiced chicken tikka.
