The 2023 Pinks are rolling in, and Les Hauts Plateaux is one of the first best buys to arrive from Provence. We're thrilled to welcome back this best-buy pink from the Bréban family for the sixth vintage.

The mountainous department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence is renowned for its charming reds, whites, and rosé, all of which fall under the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence IGP designation. The challenging terrain in this department makes large-scale traditional agriculture practically impossible; however, it's perfect for viticulture, and the local vineyards thrive on the steep, sunlit slopes of the Durance River valley.

The wines of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence owe their unique character to a fortuitous blend of Mediterranean influences and cooling effects from the Alps. This combination results in pinks that are light, wonderfully fresh, and more aromatic than those found at lower altitudes in the Provence AOC. The region, shielded from strong winds by the Alps, benefits from warm foehn winds and Mediterranean breezes that play a crucial role in reducing vine diseases.

Another plus in the terroir department is the region's superb grape-focused soil structure. The limestone-rich soil here provides optimal drainage, ensuring excellent freshness and fruit concentration. Traditional Provençal varietals are the leading players here; however, classic Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are starting to sneak into some of the blends.

Vins Bréban is one of the largest family-operated and managed producers in Provence. Their winemaking journey began shortly after World War II when the founder, Raymond Bréban, purchased the family's first vineyards in 1952. Raymond's son, Jean-Jacques Bréban, took over and continued his father's legacy by expanding the vineyard holdings and establishing fruitful collaborations with winegrowers in the region. Today, under the leadership of the third generation, the Bréban family continues to partner with the best growers to provide wine lovers across the globe with the pleasures of their perfect Provençal pinks.

In your glass, Les Hauts Plateaux Rosé is an aromatic treat of fresh strawberries, peaches, and a hint of lavender—classic hallmarks of its Provençal origin. On the palate, you're greeted with a crisp and refreshing blend of red berries and citrus, framed by a gentle whisper of spice.

Like any well-made Pink, Les Hauts Plateaux Rosé is exceptionally versatile with food, and it's an absolute no-brainer for pairing with your favorite Mediterranean creations. This refreshing Rosé is also especially well-suited to accompany light spring and summer salads and grilled seafood. For an authentic regional touch, sure to remind you of your last trip to Provence, pair it with a traditional Salade Niçoise or saffron and garlic-infused seafood classics like bouillabaisse.
