The Braidot family has been stewards of the land in Northern Italy since the late 1800s. Their multi-cultural approach to agriculture includes vegetable farming and forest management in addition to their 80 hectares of vineyards.
Italian, Germanic, and Slavic cultures meet in Friuli-Venezia,, providing the region with its distinctly blended cultural diversity. Wines from the region share and benefit from this diversity, resulting in clean, mineral-driven whites and light, focused reds.
Chardonnay produced in Friuli is typically bright, fresh, and unoaked -- Matteo Braidot's Chardonnay is precisely that. In the glass, nuances of green apple, pear, and citrus open to a palate framed by salty minerals, citrus, and green herbs -- especially basil. Extended aging on the lees contributes to the subtly toasty finish.
This terrific aperitif white would make a perfect start to any evening and will pair beautifully with your first course. Give this young wine around 15 minutes of air before serving.
