In 1929, Attilio Ravaioli purchased the family's first property in the hamlet of Nespoli, nestled between the Apennines and the sea in the rolling hills of Emilia Romagna. Through the years, the family's vineyard holdings have grown to more than 110 hectares.
The Sangiovese produced in this region -the Bidente Valley- has unique qualities thanks to the area's particular territorial traits. The optimum microclimate here results from the vineyards' exposure and the valley's shape, which ensures a steady flow of air across the land. The resulting wines, especially Sangiovese, are the purest possible expression of terroir in Emilia Romagna. The wines from Poderi dal Nespoli reflect the perfect combination of the family's presence in the region's diverse terroir, generations of rich cultural heritage, and today's cutting-edge technology.
In your glass, you'll instantly recognize this as another terrific pasta-pizza red. Notes of black cherry and spice greet you on the nose, leading to a smooth and lush palate of dark cherry with a touch of baking spice and chocolate. The palate is nicely fruit-driven, yet an ample beam of earth and spice keeps your interest after each sip. The smooth and silky finish is just what I'm looking to complement pizza, pasta, grilled chicken and even grilled tuna.
